The fact that Nokia was bought(7.17bn$) a tad less than Skype(8.5bn$) by Microsoft raised eyebrows.
Nokia has only sold the HW division and services and gets to keep all its patents, including Imaging (Scalado), its here maps originally bought from Navteq and advanced technologies. Considering there are only two big mapping firms, google maps and here maps (No, not tomtom. Apple licenced tomtom and its been a disaster), Its more about shedding overhead and moving on, which Nokia has been doing, and doing well, historically from 150 Years.
The future is more about Imaging, Augumented reality and Mapping. So this way Nokia is placed quite well.
the story will get interesting from now on…
